My husband's side-eye said everything

Reader, when I was first telling my husband that the theme for the Solstice Rhythms Retreat had come to me and had been made very clear to me and that it was Sacred Rage.

He looked at me with a side eye that could have peeled paint.

Me: “What?”

Him: "Isn't anger a bad thing? I thought the Bible says anger is a bad thing.”

To that, admittedly, I rolled my eyes a bit in my mind and proceeded to give a little lesson that went something like this:

Owning your sacred rage ≠ walking around as an angry human all the time.

Instead it means this…

⚡You choose to finally stand in your power to experience all emotions and energy that moves through you fully.

🚫You stop quieting the “no” that comes out as a “yes.”
🧘‍♀️You stop compromising your well-being for the sake of others.
🗣️You start to honor and speak the truth that only your heart knows for you.
💚You lean into vulnerability and protect what matters most to you, even if it makes someone else uncomfortable.

Sacred Rage is not about hurting or controlling others, getting even, or walking around with a scowl on your face believing the world is against you.

Nope.
It’s the opposite.

Sacred Rage is the same energetic force that creates passion.

It’s actually fully feeling all emotions that arrive as waves in your body, beginning with anger and learning how to embody them in a healthy way rather than repress them.

It’s about connecting with the parts of you that you’ve quieted or ignored and beginning to let those parts have a voice at the table.

And when you do, you cultivate deeper connections with those closest to you in life.
They begin to see your heart fully and are drawn to your energy.

You begin to set boundaries.
They begin to respect your boundaries.

You begin to feel more alive in your life, nothing holding you back.
They experience your energy and aliveness as synergy and step towards their full potential as well.

Righteous anger is absolutely necessary, but too often we’ve been given the message that anger is wrong, so we believe all anger is wrong.

We inadvertently quiet or push down even the anger that fuels change.

Which then may show up as anger that hurts others.

Rage protects.
Passion nourishes.

When we give ourselves permission to feel all the feelings and let our bodies experience them fully, we spark change.

In ourselves and in others.

The women who’ve experienced the type of work we’ll be doing at the retreat with me describe it as “refreshing” and “inspiring.” One woman left our session saying she “felt lighter and as though she could go parent now without losing it on her children.”

Sacred Rage isn’t something to be leery of. It’s actually the thing that your nervous system could be longing for you to pay attention to.

The work of Sacred Rage is just one part of your rhythm. And one that doesn’t often get attention.

If you’re ready to repattern your old ways of responding to anger and use simple practices to build capacity and resilience to feel less overwhelmed in life, the Summer Fire Solstice Celebration of Rhythms Retreat is the place to start.

It’s coming up in just over a week and there’s not much time left to register.
We gather Saturday, June 20.

Let’s change that.

Harvest Rhythms Retreat

I woke with a headache yesterday morning. Five minutes into my somatic yoga practice and I didn’t notice it anymore. I’m not someone who usually gets headaches but over the past 3-5 months, they’ve been happening more and more. They’re not debilitating, but still not enjoyable. Reader, I gave myself 10 minutes, then knew resting more wasn't going to fix this one, so stepped on my mat. It was a day I knew I could not skip because I was teaching a Yoga Flow class later that morning, and knew I...

Rhythm Reset Newsletter heading

By the end of the day you are exhausted. Kids in bed, pets taken care of, kitchen {mostly} cleaned up. Hardly enough energy to have a conversation with your partner let alone pour back into yourself with something like a restorative Yin Yoga practice or even simpler, a basic breath work practice to prepare you for sleep. Not only is your body fatigued, your brain is mush. Instead of feeling settled and ready for a peaceful night sleep, you still feel that scribbly energy inside. I see you,...

Pedicured feet relaxing

It’s always been a wish of mine, Reader, to get regular manicures and pedicures, but I’ve always kind of thought that getting your nails done was frivolous. A luxury. And a vain attempt at self care. Until I was sitting in the manicure chair and tears started streaming down my face as my heart was bursting with an overwhelming sense of gratitude and awe. I rarely go to a salon to get my toes done – it’s a treat for me mostly because I don’t have a lot of extra cash laying around for things...
