It happened again the other night

There I was, Reader, beat from a full day of activity.

17,528 steps my watch told me.

I took a 3 minute pause on top of my bed before I went to wash my face, and maximal effort had to make myself get up to get ready for bed.

That’s when it happened.

Drying off my face as I walked to tuck a child in, my body felt awake.

Alive.
Refreshed.
Rejuvenated.

All it took was washing my face.

Then, of course, my body didn’t want to fall asleep anymore🙄.

Warm water and soap... that's it.

Sadly, this happens more than I’d like.

Nearly falling asleep on the couch, then my brain gets a second wind after washing my face before bed.

Nonetheless, in case you forgot, washing your face is a beautiful way to reset your rhythm.

Heck, taking a shower does the same thing.

Literally cleansing your energy and energetic field and starting with a clean slate.

This may not be useful at bedtime if it wakes you up a bit like it does me, but in other situations, it can be the rest you need to keep going as your most present self.

🫧When you’ve been around your kids for too long and need a reprieve from their chaos.

🫧When you have an interaction with someone then just feel a bit “off” after you part ways.

🫧When you’re stuck in your head and falling into your own negativity trap.

It works with washing hands, your face, or your whole body, especially when mindfully done.

And may be just the thing you need that keeps you going throughout the day…

…especially if you’re full time mommin’ with kids around all day like I am this summer.

If you want a reset that takes you a little bit deeper in connecting with your calm presence within so that your window of tolerance for the chaos in life expands, then join us for classes this summer.

Check the full schedule below, but I’d particularly love to have you at Sunrise Yoga (8 AM😉) at Cordova Park on Saturday, July 25.

Mindful movement in nature… the best of both worlds.

(Last year we saw a bobcat pass by not even 50 feet from us, which was super ahh-mazing.)

Check it out here.

Until next week...

May you be filled with opportunities to cultivate a greater sense of health, harmony and happiness in every challenge you encounter in the coming week.

Cheers,

💚🙏

Rhythm Reset - For naturally caffeinated humans who find it hard to power down

I’m Cathy—a naturally caffeinated person recovering from racing through life. As a yoga teacher and trauma-aware somatic and breath coach, I teach stress resilience & nervous system regulation so you can move through life with more ease, intention, & connection. This is a space for naturally-(& even artificially) caffeinated people to find inspiration to slow down, tune in, and center themselves... living with more ease and intention in alignment with the rhythms within and around them.

Harvest Rhythms Retreat

I woke with a headache yesterday morning. Five minutes into my somatic yoga practice and I didn’t notice it anymore. I’m not someone who usually gets headaches but over the past 3-5 months, they’ve been happening more and more. They’re not debilitating, but still not enjoyable. Reader, I gave myself 10 minutes, then knew resting more wasn't going to fix this one, so stepped on my mat. It was a day I knew I could not skip because I was teaching a Yoga Flow class later that morning, and knew I...

Rhythm Reset Newsletter heading

By the end of the day you are exhausted. Kids in bed, pets taken care of, kitchen {mostly} cleaned up. Hardly enough energy to have a conversation with your partner let alone pour back into yourself with something like a restorative Yin Yoga practice or even simpler, a basic breath work practice to prepare you for sleep. Not only is your body fatigued, your brain is mush. Instead of feeling settled and ready for a peaceful night sleep, you still feel that scribbly energy inside. I see you,...

Pedicured feet relaxing

It’s always been a wish of mine, Reader, to get regular manicures and pedicures, but I’ve always kind of thought that getting your nails done was frivolous. A luxury. And a vain attempt at self care. Until I was sitting in the manicure chair and tears started streaming down my face as my heart was bursting with an overwhelming sense of gratitude and awe. I rarely go to a salon to get my toes done – it’s a treat for me mostly because I don’t have a lot of extra cash laying around for things...
