Rhythm Reset - For naturally caffeinated humans who find it hard to power down
I’m Cathy—a naturally caffeinated person recovering from racing through life. As a yoga teacher and trauma-aware somatic and breath coach, I teach stress resilience & nervous system regulation so you can move through life with more ease, intention, & connection. This is a space for naturally-(& even artificially) caffeinated people to find inspiration to slow down, tune in, and center themselves... living with more ease and intention in alignment with the rhythms within and around them.

Guided, not led.

Every month I take a Res{e}t Week at the studio.
White space on my calendar without classes, without appointments for the most part.
It's my time to reconnect with myself and get out of the monotony that might otherwise happen when teaching the same schedule every week.
It's time for a change.
Next week during Res{e}t week (November 1 - 7), things will look a bit different.
Instead of me just not offering classes at the studio, we'll go back and revisit the way I taught when I first opened my doors 14 years ago.
No, this doesn't mean teaching the brand of yoga I taught back then. Instead, it means teaching in the ancient yogic Mysore-way of teaching.
“My-what” you say? You’re about to find out.. ⤵️
(Mysore is the city in India where this style of teaching began with the birth of Ashtanga Yoga by T. Krishnamacharya or K. Pattabhi Jois. Yes, I’m secretly giving you a history lesson. 😉)
Mysore = Guided Self-Practice
Which just means that I'm going to be teaching yoga in a way that personalizes a yoga practice for you. 🎉🎉
So excited, you get jazz hands!
I get to give you one-on-one attention and work with you to come up with a practice that will serve your body the best.
It may not look the same every time you practice, but you'll have a menu of options to choose from so that you can feel confident stepping on your yoga mat at home or during these once a month guided self-practice weeks.
I offer you support, assists, and adjustments for your unique body, and you walk away feeling settled, confident, and reconnected to yourself and our studio community.
No more weeks of me just leaving you hanging and hoping you'll utilize the other resources that I have available online. Because let's be real, sometimes we just need some accountability and that's what this studio space will offer you.
Think of these Res{e}t weeks as being “guided,” not led: I’m in the room to help you build the practice your body needs that day.
As time passes and you become more familiar with this way of practicing, you can walk into the studio, roll out your mat, and either practice what we have worked on together or simply find a few restorative postures and lie on your mat to take a nap if that's what your body needs most.
Class times will stay the same as regular weeks but will flex a bit because the format will look a bit different.
You show up anytime within the time frame of class to be done practicing by the end of class time:
Mondays 5:30 - 6:45 PM Wednesdays 8:30 - 9:45 AM Thursdays 5:30 - 6:15 AM *The Weekly Breath Reset will not be held these weeks. Instead, use one of the 100+ recorded classes you have access to as a participant or one of the recordings on Insight Timer.
Reader, you don’t need to know the poses, I’ll help you build the practice.
Register or drop-in. If you have a membership already, this is included.
Not local? You can try this at home.
Guided self-practice is really just this: you ask your body what it needs, and then you follow the answer.
Here’s how to start:
Roll out your mat (or a towel, or a patch of carpet or hardwood).
Ask yourself, “What does my body need today?”
Move toward that for 10 minutes.
Notice how you feel.
If you ask and nothing comes up, that’s okay. It happens a lot.
Start in Child’s Pose. Rest there for five slow breaths. Then ask again: What does my body want next?
Maybe it wants to stay. Maybe it wants to stretch, or sway, or lie down. Follow that.
If still nothing comes up, lift to hands and knees and move however feels good.
Skip anything your body says “no” to. Your body gets the final say.
I’m also planning to share the menu of postures and movements I use in the studio to help students craft their personal practices, so you can start building your own practice at home.
It’s not ready yet. If you’d like it when it is, hit reply and send me the word “menu.”
This is your time, your time to deepen your practice🧘♀️.
If you have questions, or you’re not local and want help getting started, drop me a line. 💻
Cheers,

I probably don’t have to tell you this, but I’m going to anyway so you have reassurance you’re not alone. When you’re a naturally caffeinated person, it seems like your mind actually speeds up at night when you lay your head down to fall asleep. 👆👆👆👆 Yep, I know, Reader. It happens to me too. So years ago I started saying some affirmations as I fell asleep to remind my body mind it was safe to settle and let sleep do the integration work of the day for me. One of these affirmations I said to...
Discernment. Digesting. Integrating. All words I use to describe the energy of fall. It’s a time for letting go, clearing out, and releasing. ANDIt’s a time for gathering in, celebrating and gratitude. Both. Gathering in and letting go.Leaving changed. The brain can relate to this through the death and rebirth cycle of nature. It’s not linear, it’s cyclical. Many trees release leaves - creating spaciousness for the new.Others hold on - taking longer to process and let go.Both showing us how to...
“Does that thing really work for you?” asked my husband last night. Me: “Um, heck yes, noticeable difference in my energy and how I feel, especially with all the rain we’ve been having.” Him: “But how is it any different than those lights?” pointing to the vanity lights in our bathroom. We’re talking about my Happy Light (That's an affiliate link. If you buy through it, I earn a small commission at no cost to you.), one of the major players in getting me through the dark of winter and keeping...
